	Welcome to the Orthotropic Bridge Home page. Recognizing this is a specialized area of bridge engineering, we at the Sacramento Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) are sponsoring the Orthotropic Bridge conferences so all engineers around the world can share their ideas, insights and projects. In 2004, we conducted the first Orthotropic Bridge Conference. It was a pioneering effort by California bridge engineers passionate about the application and future development of Orthotropic configuration for bridges. They recognized the value of offering others professionals in their field the opportunity to join and share their knowledge and experience. That first conference attracted representatives from 11 countries and received excellent comments from many who attended. Conference proceedings are still requested over 3 years after that event.
	In 2008, Sacramento Section of ASCE along with the approval of the US Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) is conducting the 2nd international Orthotropic Bridge Conference. There have been many advances in research and many projects have been built in the last 4 years so we anticipate a very informative and enriching conference.
